The Textile Lab Projects aims to show NABA’s textile lab through the sounds produced by students and professional working in it. During a whole day of work, most of the machinery and equipment of the lab were recorded: different kinds of textile materials and special tools, dyeing equipment, an industrial textile press, sound of men and women at work.
19 carefully selected sound samples were recorded during the observation of the lab’s activity. Those samples were then used to compose a sound narrative which represents our sonic perception of the lab.
The project is also an archive of unusual sounds which could be useful to media operators who may need them.
All the recorded samples will be available in their upcoming library category [check back in a few weeks time], while the narrative can be enjoyed here
